HITIQ and AFL Barwon join forces to bring PROTEQT to over 25k community players
HITIQ is proud to announce a new three-year partnership with AFL Barwon, bringing its breakthrough concussion management system, PROTEQT, to more than 25,000 players across regional Victoria.
As the newly named Official “Concussion Technology Partner” of AFL Barwon, HITIQ will collaborate with over 50 clubs across the region to support safer play, smarter care, and stronger concussion protocols across all levels of the game.
AFL Barwon is one of Victoria’s most prominent football regions, covering Geelong, Bellarine and Surf Coast areas. Its footprint spans men’s, women’s, junior, and All-Abilities competitions, making it a key leader in regional community sport and a powerful force for player wellbeing.
Empowering local clubs and communities
PROTEQT is a first-of-its-kind consumer solution that combines smart impact monitoring with medical-grade support. From the Shock Doctor Easy Fit mouthguard that logs impacts, to in-app tools for symptom tracking, education, and telehealth access, it provides families, coaches, and athletes with a complete, end-to-end approach to concussion care.
The rollout across AFL Barwon will empower clubs to better support their players on and off the field, particularly in a time when head impacts are one of the most significant risks facing contact sports.
“We’re excited to partner with HITIQ as we continue to prioritise player safety and wellbeing across our region,” said Lisa Patterson, Region General Manager of AFL Barwon. “This partnership provides access to innovative technology that strengthens our approach to concussion management and education.”
Executive Chairman of HITIQ, Earl Eddings, added, “Partnering with AFL Barwon marks a pivotal step in delivering PROTEQT to regional athletes. Combined with our VAFA collaboration, we’re building a national network to lead the way in community sport concussion care.”
Building a national movement
With a commercial rollout underway and a goal to reach, HITIQ is rapidly expanding its footprint across Australia.
From junior leagues to senior competition, across rugby union, rugby league, and Australian football, we’re delivering smart, scalable solutions that empower clubs to take concussion management seriously, no matter their size or location.
As more leagues come onboard, we remain committed to helping all athletes play.
